Our Vision
We want to radically change the ad-hoc nature of construction project management and give it a production oriented structure that will deliver safe, defect free on time projects. Our three step approach is simple in concept, but needs everyone to understand it and to be disciplined in its implementation.
Our Approach
Our iBook – The Implementation of Technology Clusters is the outcome of 30 years of research and development of an integrated project management strategy that is based on getting the best from the construction workforce, called Technology Clusters. This research has led us to the conclusion that existing methods need to be rethought. By proposing an approach that is tried and tested we are confident that the teams that fully adopt the approach can achieve significantly different levels of results and satisfaction by all involved in the project. By adopting the iBook structure we have built an interactive text book. This will be supplemented by case studies of Technology Clusters in operation, Project Execution Plan frameworks, process maps for the complete project management system and on line courses.
Who are we?
We have worked together for over 25 years, researching, refining and developing the elements of the Technology Cluster concept. All of our courses, writing and consultancy have been designed to enhance our understanding of how the industry works and how it could be improved.
Colin Gray, Professor Emeritus of Professional Construction Management, University of Reading, UK
My career has been spent as a passionate advocate of improvement of the construction industry. My research into the processes of the industry has been published widely including translated into Chinese. This final work in the development of Technology Clusters brings together all of my previous work into a coherent strategy for future projects. Exhortation for improvement will have little effect unless the fundamental management structure and practice of construction management changes.
Dr Salam Al-Bizri, Senior Lecturer at The University of Portsmouth
My PhD in design management and more specifically the Contractor Design Portion introduced me to the complexities of the construction process. Subsequently I have developed a process map of the whole construction project process so that people in the process can understand their roles and those of the others that they are going to work with. From this has developed new organisation theory and the Technology Cluster concept. The implementation of this concept requires a completely new training and development process which this book, The Implementation of Technology Clusters, underpins.
